I need one from the parts store and need to know what size the ones on the side of the block are. The one by the starter housing on my 57 is gone!

That I am aware of, the All Frunt, Side, and rear Freeze Plugs through 97 are the same size, they are 1 5/8 You can go to the auto parts store and ask for a 1 5/8 plug or you can also buy a CBC freeze plug kit for around $10 - $15. When I build engines, I prefer to use the Brass ones and I ALWAYS put a bead of read Loc Tight around it Hope this helpsShawn

They also have the replacement type that is made of rubber, has a stud , washer and nut. Insert in hole and tighten the nut.
