Now I didn"t need my car towed, although it became questionable at times during this trip, instead I was a total reality television tourist.
I watch "Lizard Lick Towing" the TV show religiously as it reminds me of my country roots and for the unusual name. My husband being born and raised in England was a bit more perplexed by the concept and did not believe me that it was an actual family runned business located on the outskirts of Raleigh, NC.
We happened to be on route from South Carloina heading to Washington D.C. and thought we may never have the chance again so decided to take a slight detour and off we went to Wake County.
When we arrive at the site it looked exactly like the television show. I"m sure you are thinking "obviously" but I"ve been disillusioned before. We immediately went in to the Main Office in hopes to see one of the Lizard Lick Krew. We were greeted by friendly and welcoming staff who informed us that we just missed Ron and Amy but encouraged us to look around the property and take as many pictures as we"d like, which we took full advantage of.

There was a gift shop across the road in which we were once again met with that incredible southern hospitality and charm. The charismatic shop attendant shared stories of the family and other visitor"s journeys. We ended our journey with a collections of souvenirs, a picture with a cut out version of the Shirley"s and a "safe travels now and y"all come back ya hear".
This stop is a great opportunity to stretch the legs and encounter that feel good sensation known as southern hospitality. For any reality television show enthusiasts or offbeat roadtripper, this stop was made for you.
